Every year children from every walks of life, look forward to their next birthday. They count down the months and days and eagerly anticipate the party day where they can celebrate with their friends. Before the big day comes around though, there is lots of organize. The first thing to do is set a theme, second choose the time and date and then announce it to all of your child's friends with kids birthday invites.

Once the birthday theme has been decided, you can choose birthday invitations especially made for children in a whole range of fantastic themes from the classics like Mickey Mouse and Thomas the Tank engine, to more modern TV stars like Spongebob Squarepants and Princess Tiana. If you are having a particular themed party, you can be assured that a themed party invitation exists for every theme you can think of. However if you are not planning to decorate in a specific theme, but just want to send out nice invitations, there are also plenty of generic themes available that might just suit your child's favorite topic, like cowboys, fire engines or fairies.

There are two types of invitations generally available these days and that is the generic fill in the blank style invitations which you can pick up at many local party shops and large retail stores or online. These will have all of the main words like place, date, time etc pre printed and it is up to you to fill in all of the details. This is one of the cheapest way to do invitations.

An alternative for today's modern and time strapped parents is to order specially printed invitations online. These can be personalized with all the details of the party including the time and date, as well as the names of the guests to be invited. These types of personalized invitations can be done online quickly and easily and you can have them delivered a month or more before the party, so that you can post them out or have your child hand them out to the kids at school, so that they know when the big day is approaching and can mark it on their calendars.

Another alternative to buying personalized or fill in the blank cards is to make your own. Kids can get crafty and make their own invites from card and stamps and lots of embellishments, or you can print ready made designs off the internet and have your children color in the pictures and add further decoration.

It is important that you send out the kids birthday party invitations around a month before the date so that the parents can arrange plans for the day and also have time to purchase an appropriate present for the party child.

Recently though, I have gone to making invitations for my kids birthday parties on the computer using Photoshop. I can then incorporate a photo of them as well as the words I want talking about the party. However I know for many people, this is not an option and for me, it was certainly time consuming. I am now moving towards ordering my invitations online and what I am going to try next year for my kids are photo invitations!
